Brace yourselves for another descent into madness—A24 has officially unveiled the first teaser for Eddington, the next mind-bending tale from director Ari Aster. Known for giving us unsettling gems like Hereditary and Midsommar, Aster now turns his lens to small-town America during the early days of the pandemic—but with a twist. This isn’t your typical Covid-era drama. Eddington is less about the virus and more about what it did to people’s heads—and hearts.

Set in May 2020, the film unravels a powder-keg standoff between a town sheriff and mayor in the fictional New Mexico town of Eddington. As tensions flare, neighbor turns against neighbor, and the community begins to unravel faster than a roll of toilet paper in 2020. It’s not just about masks and mandates—it’s about the quiet chaos simmering beneath the surface when fear, power, and paranoia collide.

The cast is an indie-film-lover’s dream lineup. Joaquin Phoenix leads the charge alongside Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Emma Stone, Austin Butler, and a stacked supporting ensemble. If that doesn’t scream “prestige cinema with emotional damage,” we don’t know what does. Expect moody lighting, awkward silences, and scenes that make you question your own sanity—just another day in Ari Aster’s cinematic universe.

Slated for a July 18, 2025 release, Eddington looks like it’ll be equal parts eerie, emotional, and uncomfortably relatable. Pandemic fatigue might be real—but with Aster behind the camera and A24 pulling the strings, this is one anxiety trip we’ll gladly sign up for.
